My wife and I decided we would visit the ten oldest bars in New York and Julius was on the list.

Julius is a historical gay bar. In fact it is the first bar to serve homosexuals in the city.

It is not over the top, but very interesting. The first scene from Boys In The Band was filmed. We popped in here to see a bit of gay history while we were in the area, the barman was friendly and the drinks were really cheap, especially if you got whatever the special.

It had a nice atmosphere, and I'd Incall London massage. On a Wednesday night this place was packed with boys early in the evening.

The bartender was charming and an expert slinger and mixer. It's cozy at the bar rail without blaring music. I also loved how there was an open grill opposite to the bar with a blackboard menu of burgs and fries for instant craving satisfying. Julius is a necessary pitstop--it's the oldest gay bar in New York.
